I love walking through Brentwood, Los Angeles, CA with my husband Nick and son Dominick who is now 8 months old. A gentle walk gives me time to center, focus and get grounded when I catch my mind telling me there aren’t enough hours in the day and I haven’t got enough done.

On our daily walk, we pass a shop that has lots of activity, I had to check it out when I saw the gorgeous decor. It’s called Drybar Salon and it is much more than a salon. It’s an experience.

Yesterday, I was filming an infomercial. I didn’t have time for a cut or color but needed my hair to be “camera ready”. Drybar is an amazing concept because all they do is blow out your hair and you can choose from several different looks depending on your mood or the style you want.

In the past, Valentine’s Day threw up a mixture of emotions and memories.

The first painful memory that springs to mind was dreading going to school because I’d only got a Valentine’s card from my Mom. I felt like slinking under my classroom desk when one of my popular peers said, “So how many cards did you get?”

I came to believe I was unlovable.

The second hurtful memory I experienced was not being able to have a relationship. While my girlfriends were being whisked off to Barbados and Switzerland for romantic getaways and showered with jewelry, I felt like an outcaste, so when a bad boy gave me a bit of attention, I felt like a charity case and jumped through hoops to get any bit of love I could.

I believed if a guy I liked knew the real me, they would never date me in a million years so it’s best to pretend to be someone super confident and happy.

My third painful memory was going for dinner on Valentine’s Day with someone I wasn’t in to. I was terrified he was going to expect me to kiss him or expect me to sleep with him because I thought I owed him for having pity on me and taking me out to dinner.

I believed I should give a guy what he wants because I thought love was something bought.
